Ar-Rubut were established to shelter Al-Mujahedeen. They were also used to shelter strangers and poor people who visit Jerusalem. The ascetics used them to worship. Two of the most famous rubuts are Al-Kurd and Az-Zaman rubuts. Now, they are used as residences.
