The quality of food in the prisons is very poor; most prisoners rely on the "canteen" which means the prison grocery, to buy and cook food. This increases the costs for the prisoner and his family. Prisoners who do not have enough money are forced to eat what is offered to them. Causing them many diseases such as "anemia, poor nutrition, poor vision".
