Mosques:

In Jerusalem, there are up to 35 mosques. Some of them are:

Al- Aqsa, Bani Hasan, Al-Shurafa’a, Al-Zawiyah Al-Mawlawiyyah, Al- Sheikh Rihan, Qambar mosques, in addition to Al-Zawiyah Al- Afghaniyyah,

Al Sheikh Makki, Al-Qal’ah, Al-Khankah Al-Salahiyyah, Al-Busairi,

and Al-Qarmi mosques. Also, there are Othman bin Affan, Al-Rasasi, Khan, Khan Al-Sultan, and Al-Sheikh Lu’lu’ mosques.

Churches and Monasteries:

In Jerusalem, there are a lot of historic churches and monasteries that hold great meanings.

Gates:

In the Wall of Jerusalem, there are 11 open gates and 4 closed ones.

Following are two of the closed Gates:

- Al-Muzdawaj Gate: located in the southern side of the wall and Al-Aqsa Mosque

- Al-Rahmah Gate: located in the eastern side of the wall and Al- Aqsa Mosque. It is also called “the Golden Gate”

Now, here are some of the closed gates:

- Bab Al-A’moud (Al-A’moud Gate): located in the northern wall of the city, and it’s the most famous gate and the biggest

- Bab Annabi Dawood: located in the southern wall of the city

- Bab Al-Khalil: in the western wall of the city

- Bab Al-Magharibah: this is not Al-Magharibah gate that is west of Al-Aqsa Mosque; this gate is located in the southern wall of the city.

Markets:

In the Old Town, there are historic markets full of ornaments, aesthetics, and architecture from the different ages that the city has witnessed.

Some of the most famous markets are:

- Al-Bazar Market

- Al-Qatanin Market

- Bab Al-Silesia Market

- Al-Lahhameen Market (the meat market)
