It was demolished during the Crusader period and rebuilt in the Mamluk period during the Sultan's reign Mohammed bin Qalawoun. They are two great arches in the two ends and two columns in center, consisting of three entrances. They were mentioned by Ibn al-Faqih and Nasir Khusro in the name of Maqam Al-Shami. Khosro said, fifty years before the Crusader occupation, that Almakam Alshami is greater than the other arches, indicating that they were composed of five or six entrances during the Aphrodite occupation. The traveler Yohana said that the northern side of the nave had no stairs and arches, but built upon them monasteries of the priests.
