Located in the southwestern part of the Old City of Jerusalem, specifically in the Armenian Quarter, to the south of Bab Al-Khalil, to the east of the center of Qishla, and next to the Armenian Orthodox Monastery (Dermar Yaqub).

You can enter this mosque through a main entrance from St. James Street, leading to the rectangular prayer house, within a total area of 144 m 2 (9 × 16) square meters.

This mosque continued to perform its mission until the end of the thirteenth century AH / AD 19th century.

According to a legitimate argument dated mid-spring of the first year (1243 AH / 1727) that it was under the tutelage of the family Almossus, that it had endowments to benefit, such as the House of sailors Al-Jawaldeh Jerusalem.

Obtained in 1396 AH (1976) according to another document, the book of the Director of Antiques Department (Antiquities Department) dated 1922/10/30 AD confirms the site of the mosque it is ruinous and its docks covered with a floor to a depth of 2 m.

Only its walls preserved, and some of the architectural elements of the building were damaged.

This mosque witnessed Armenian attempts to own it, and it reached the limit of harassment and the closure of its entrance and one of its windows, the residents were aware of this and repeated their demand for the Jerusalem Awqaf circle more than once during the years (1973-1945).

The most serious of these attempts was the claim of the Armenian Patriarchate to the Central Court of Jerusalem (the Israeli occupation court) on August 5, 1978.

Because the Court did not have jurisdiction to refer the case to the Minister of Religions at the Israeli occupation on 3/22/22, to settle the matter through the issuance of permission and a license from the municipality to reconstruct the mosque.

However, the Zionist entity worked to block the project, since that date, the mosque closed and its urban situation is worsening day after day, and it forbidden to approach it for prayer or reconstruction.

Which means that rebuilding this mosque in accordance with an authentic and high Islamic model has become an urgent religious and national necessity.
