One of the most beautiful mosques in the city of Jerusalem – which is located outside Al-Aqsa Mosque – and mastered building.

An area of ​​about 144 square meters (8 × 18) m 2, 6 m, next to an old minaret dating back to the Ottoman period, and consists of a prayer house reached through a relatively small eastern entrance, and anchored in the manner of the Barmili basement.

It is a beautiful and decorated mihrab, which is a stone veneer crowned with a card, preceded by a contract whose legs anchored on two columns on either side of the mihrab, and on the left of a stone pulpit.

The minaret of the mosque built in 938 AH (1531), it renovated in the time of the Ottoman Sultan Mohammed IV (1065 AH / 1654 AD), it consists of three stone layers.

The first is a square base, the second and third cylindrical.

The Ottoman Sultan Mahmoud I renewed this mosque in 1151 AH (1738 AD), and it dedicated the mosque to the soldiers

Prayer in it.

They appointed the imam and the muezzin, and they handle the affairs of the mosque in coordination with the administration of the Jerusalem endowments.

In 1956, the commander of the Princess Alia Brigade sent a letter to the Awqaf stating that the minaret of the mosque was in serious condition and that its survival threatened the lives of the soldiers.

During the British mandate

Converted to a store of ancient antiquities, the Islamic Council then called on the Mandatory government to remove the antiquities and return the key to the mosque; however, its attempts failed, after the British Mandate the mosque returned to the custody of the Jordanian army and restored the mosque to its original function.

After the Zionist occupation

In 1967, it became part of a museum called the Museum of the David Castle.
